‘The Maker of England?’ will take the form of an illustrated lecture, following on from Professor Wood’s recent series of films on the BBC. It will reflect on the reign of Aethelstan, the first king of England, looking at the king’s manuscripts for clues to the life and thought of an Anglo-Saxon king in the Viking Age.
