Lessons in Art History

F44FAAS1_MN2VVv2asNKzvm_j38Fjl_12BeDMjqTeR4[1]Horst Bredekamp, Professor of Art History from Humbolt University in Berlin, spent time during his recent stay in Manchester as the Pilkington Visiting Lecturer to participate in one of the collections-based seminars in the MA in Renaissance Print Culture held in the Rylands. This programme, developed by Dr Ed Wouk (Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Manchester), gives students the opportunity to explore, identify and document some of the Library’s rich, but little known, print collections. This year the students also have access to some of the prints from the Whitworth that have been loaned while the Gallery is being refurbished. As part of their assessment for this course the students will also curate a small but bijoux exhibition which will open to the public in May.
