John Rylands Research Institute – Research Associate vacancy

The Historic Reading Room at John Rylands Library

The John Rylands Research Institute is seeking to appoint a Research Associate as part of its team working on the Library’s Special Collections.  You will carry out original high quality research on the Special Collections, working in partnership with the Library’s curatorial staff. You will also prepare high quality grant applications, disseminate research findings, and play an active role in the Institute, including organising, attending and contributing to seminars, lectures and conferences. You will be supervised by Professor Peter E. Pormann, Director of the John Rylands Research Institute.

You will be expected to hold a Doctorate on a topic related to the Library’s Special Collections. Knowledge of more than one language relating to Special Collections and experience of writing grant applications with a successful track record in grant applications is desirable.

You will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and meet strict deadlines.
